Former Norway manager Egil Olsen has slammed Erling Haaland for having one of the worst performances he has ever seen after the Manchester City striker failed to score in a goalless draw at Kazakhstan
in the Nations League. The 24-year-old has been in red-hot form, netting back-to-back Premier League hat-tricks for City but failed to find the back of the net in Friday’s international break against Kazakhstan despite playing the full time. It was
another disappointing result for Norway, who failed to qualify for the last European Championship, with TV2 giving Haaland a 2/10 rating.
“We have two world-class players in the team,” said ยูฟ่าเบท Olsen, who was Norway’s head coach between 2009 and 2013.
“It’s a shame that Erling Haaland was far from his standard today. It was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from him. “
Martin Ødegaard flashed in moments but I’ve seen him do better. A point is not good enough. Because no other nation in the group will drop points against Kazakhstan.”
Despite not scoring against Kazakhstan, Haaland still has an impressive international record, having played 34 times and scored 31 goals. Current coach Ståle Solbakken is optimistic:
“We have a lot of confidence in the work we are doing, so we are quite calm. Of course, we wanted to get the three points here and we deserved to do that, but we have to be careful not to get caught on the counter-attack and lose in the end.”
Arsenal playmaker Martin Ødegaard, who is also the team captain, also opened up: “I am disappointed. It is a difficult situation. We did a lot of good things but we didn’t score. No one can say exactly why.
